IVUS stands for intravascular ultrasound, an imaging method performed from inside a blood vessel. It uses a tiny ultrasound probe on a catheter to create detailed pictures of the vessel wall and lumen (the channel where blood flows). IVUS is commonly used during cardiac catheterization, especially in coronary artery procedures such as angioplasty and stent placement.
